5A State Championships Gameday Competition: Elgin 's Lady Owl cheerleaders competed for the State Chanpionship in Yukon on Saturday, Nov. 2. The Lady Owls finished 9th out of 27 teams.

 

 

Megan Pratt, Kamree Castle and Gage McElhaney competed in the Class 5A Cross Country State Meet at Edmond on Saturday, Oct.27.

 

ELGIN - Coming into the 2018 Battle of the Wichitas, Elgin had forged a record of 1-7 and was looking for a win against their Comanche County rival Cache.

Cache started early and scored twice, only to have both touchdowns called back on penalties.

CHICKASHA - Trailing 14-0 at halftime, the Elgin Owls could have easily called it a night and packed their bags.

The Owls had different thoughts and battled back to tie the game 14-14 before eventually falling to Chickasha 22-16 on Thursday, Oct. 18.

NORMAN - It was not the best of conditions, but that didn’t stop three Elgin Cross Country runners from qualifying for the State meet next Saturday at Edmond Santa Fe. Kamree Castle and Megan Pratt both qualified for the Lady Owls.

ELGIN - Elgin hosted the Anadarko Warriors on Friday, Oct.12, for a Homecoming showdown in District 4A-1.

The Owls received the opening kickoff and started with a Rivers Johnson return for seven yards, setting the Owls up at the 29 yard line to start their drive.

NEWCASTLE - Elgin’s Lady Owls traveled to Newcastle to play in the Class 4A Regional Tournament with hopes of a State Championship birth on their minds.

The Lady Owls went 1-2 during the tournament and saw their State title hopes dashed.

 

CLINTON - Elgin’s football team traveled to Clinton to take on the Red Tornadoes on Friday, Oct. 5.

The Owls hoped to continue the momentum they had gained in their victory against Elk City the week before.
