Back in 1986, the group Europe released the song "The Final Count- down." We have all heard and probably sang it real loud at times, as well. For most high school football teams in Oklahoma the first three games of the year count as a "preseason." Oh, the games definitely matter.

A photo taken of the Elgin Public School's new ampitheater last Thursday shows construction is underway. The Labor Day enrollment report continues to verify steady growth at EPS. This year's attendance totals 2,406 students versus 2,349 around the same timeframe as last year.

Several parents recently raised concerns about the safety of their children after an overcrowded bus issue was brought to the community's attention through social media. Elgin Public Schools Superintendent Nate Meraz said school officials have begun to take steps in altering the current bus transportation routes to ease overcrowding until more certified school bus drivers can be hired. Although a request was submitted to the school for the latest bus count numbers, no response was provided as of press time.
