LAWTON – Cameron University has promoted Kyle Williams to the position of head baseball coach after serving as the program's assistant coach last season.

"To fill the head baseball coach position we did a national search and had an enormous amount of applications, and Kyle came out on top," said CU athletic

director Jim Jackson. "We think with his experience as an assistant not only here but at Crowder that he is ready to be a head coach.

"I like his work ethic, his approach to the game, and that he will bring a positive culture to our baseball program," he said.

In 2019, Williams helped guide the Aggies to a spot in the Lone Star Conference Championship final after upsetting the No. 1 ranked Angelo State in the semifinal.

Cameron saw an eightwin improvement from the previous year, and also improved their batting average by 20 points and their home run total from 18 in 2018 to 32 last season.
