William Joesph Bedoka 66, of Anadarko, passed away Sept. 27, 2020, in Oklahoma City. He was born May 27, 1954, in Lawton, to William Taft and Harriett (Weller) Bedoka. He was the oldest of six siblings. He is survived by twin siblings, Anthony Bedoka, of Oklahoma City, and Anita Bedoka, of Lawton. William attended Riverside Indian School and Chilocco Indian School, both in Oklahoma. He was very active in his culture, and he loved to travel. He was well known for War, Hoop and Fancy dancing throughout Indian Country. Aside from traveling and powwows, William loved spending time with his family. Everyone enjoyed William's character and the stories he loved to share. His smile and laugh will forever be missed.
William loved spending time with his grandchildren and spend most of his latter years at his niece, Miranda's, in Oklahoma City. William is survived by three children, Sheldon Jones Sr. and his grandson, Sheldon Jones Jr., both of Fort Totten, North Dakota, Michael Red Tomahawk, of Fort Yates, North Dakota, and his daughter, Rebecca Bedoka, of Denver. He is also survived by three grandchildren in Oklahoma City.
William was preceded in death by his father, William Taft Bedoka; and mother, Harriett Frances Weller; Sally Bedoka; Ronnie Bedoka; and William Bedoka. Services were held at 2 p.m. Oct. 5 at Smith funeral home in Anadarko. A meal followed at Delaware Community Center in Anadarko. Drums and speakers were welcomed.
