CHICKASHA - The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma’s Dr. Tonnia L. Anderson has been accepted to the prestigious Bread Loaf Environmental Writer’s Conference. The conference, which accepts only a handful of applicants each year, is held annually in June at Middlebury College in Vermont.

Anderson, assistant professor of history and American studies, began teaching creative writing courses at USAO after the retirement of Dr. Ingrid Shafer.

Anderson will be working with Luis Alberto Urrea, a member of the Latino Literature Hall of Fame and a 2005 Pulitzer Prize finalist for nonfiction. He is the critically-acclaimed and best-selling author of 17 books and has won numerous awards for his poetry, fiction and essays.
