ELGIN - Local schools will see only a fraction of the tax money originally expected now that a settlement has concluded a fouryear tax protest from Blue Canyon Windpower LLC and Blue Canyon Windpower V LLC.

Information provided in a recent press release issued by Blue Canyon’s law firm of Hartzog Conger Cason and Neville, said the multi-year dispute began over the county’s ad valorem tax assessment.

Protesting the Comanche County Assessor’s tax value of Blue Canyon’s wind farm equipment from 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 led to a pending litigation in the Comanche County District Court.

Recently, Comanche County Assessor Grant Edwards and taxpayers Blue Canyon Windpower LLC and Blue Canyon Windpower V LLC, have entered into an agreement to resolve the issue, bringing closure to the four-year disagreement.
