STERLING - A bicycle accident sent Sterling Public School Superintendent Kent Lemons to the hospital last week, severely injured. Information released by Sterling Police Chief Bran- don Lambert noted that at 6:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, he was notified by Comanche County Dispatch about a bicycle accident. The injured victim, identified as Kent Lemons, 58, of Sterling, was reportedly found lying on the ground with his helmet on at 4th Avenue and NE Miller Road. Sterling Fire Department was listed as being on scene and Apache EMS transported Kent to Southwestern Hospital for possible neck or back injuries, the report said. Chief Lambert wrote in an incident report that it appeared Kent had been traveling westbound on Miller Road but turned to go southbound on 4th Avenue when the accident occurred. The report noted that he may have cut the corner too short and perhaps drove his bicycle into the pipe culvert, causing him to flip over the handlebars.
