Smallfoot is a wacky animated comedy about mythical creatures that also serves as an allegory for free thinking and the search for truth.

However, the allegory is muddily delivered, and the first two acts are so full of modern animated film tropes and extended slapstick sequences that many kids and adults in the audience might become bored by the time things get actually interesting in the third act.

Fortunately, with its fifth film, Warner Animation Group (WAG) shows it has improved significantly since its last "true" CGI film, 2016's Storks, and the company is really amping up its production slate. The studio has also put out The Lego Movie, The Lego Batman Movie and the Lego Ninjago Movie, with the Lego Movie 2 and Scooby, an animated feature based on Scooby Doo, hitting theaters soon.
