Memorial services for Randie Ray Wolverton, 69, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, 2020, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. Brad Davis will officiate. Randie Wolverton and his twin brother, Ronnie, were born Feb. 28, 1951, in Macon, Georgia, to Bill Gene Wolverton and Betty Rhae (Widup) Wolverton. Their mother died when he was 10 years old and his father then married Edna Wolverton, who raised them as her own. Randie died Friday, Oct. 9, 2020, in Oklahoma City. Randie graduated from Parsons, Kansas, High School in 1970. He married DeAun Tait in 1970, and to this union his children, Shane and Melanie, were born. He first worked as a pipeline x-ray technician in Green Bay Wisconsin, then he worked for the Parsons Fire Department, which was his dream job, until 1974. He went to work for the Michigan Wisconsin Pipeline Co. in Lions, Kansas, Abilene, Kansas, and then Chickasha, retiring from there when it was known as ANR. He then became a contract welder, working with several companies through Pipeline Union 798, out of Tulsa, retiring in January 2017. He was married to Sidney Walker Wolverton for 25 years until her passing. On March 17, 2017, Randie married Ann Taylor and they lived in Chickasha. He enjoyed golfing and collecting guns. He loved to visit family and would take trips to Kansas, where he liked to golf with his brother, son and grandchildren. He was a jokester with a great sense of humor, and he loved to laugh. He liked to be the life of the party and he loved to cook. Randie had a kind heart and always put others first, ahead of himself. He loved his extended family and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.
He adored his pets, most recently, Millie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Wolverton, Bill Wolverton and Edna Wolverton; his wife, Sidney Wolverton; his sister, Cherie Kruse; and his niece, Angie McKinney. Survivors include his wife, Annie Wolverton, of Chickasha; his son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Lisa Wolverton, of Humboldt, Kansas; his daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Jeff Kidd, of Oklahoma City; his brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Debra Wolverton, of Parsons, Kansas; his grandchildren and their spouses, Bethany and Mustafa Alzanadi, Jolie and Brad Myers, Dillon and Haley Wolverton, Madison, Kora and Ellisyn Kidd; his great-grandchildren, Kenzington, Eithan, Cole and Jaxson; his stepson, James Bell; his stepdaughter, Deborah Collier; and other extended family and friends.
