GIRLS BASKETBALL

Cyril 31 Cheyenne/Reydon 38

CHICKASHA - Cyril's Lady Pirates started the Area Tournament against Cheyenne/Reydon on Thursday, Feb. 28.

The Lady Pirates took a 16- 15 advantage into the locker room at halftime. Cheyenne/Reydon used a 16-point fourth quarter to put the game away. Lexi McLemore scored 14 points for the night.

Cyril's season ended with a record of 21-6.

BOYS BASKETBALL Cyril 43 Arapaho/Butler 49 (OT)

CHICKASHA - Cyril started off hot against Arapaho/ Butler, taking a 21-10 advantage into halftime.

Arapaho/Butler came firing back in the third quarter and only trailed 24-21 heading into the final stanza on Friday, Feb. 28.

Four quarters were not enough to settle the game, as it was tied at 37 points each at the end of regulation.

Arapaho/Butler's Ethan Pyron was deadly from the free throw line in overtime sinking 9-of-10 free shots to seal the win.

Jakobie Kaesemeyer had 18 points in the loss.

Cyril 59 Vici 63

CHICKASHA - Cyril once again jumped out to a big halftime advantage, taking a 36-25 lead into the locker room on Saturday, Feb. 29.

Vici chopped away at Cyril's lead during the third quarter and trailed by six points, 49-43, heading into the fourth quarter.

The Pirates were not able to keep pace with the Indians in the fourth quarter and dropped back-to-back games for the first time this year.

Jakobie Kaesemeyer scored 23 points and Jose Rivera added 15 points in the loss.

The back-to-back losses ended Cyril's run at a second consecutive State Championship.

Cyril's season ended with an outstanding record of 24-4.
