Funeral for Merion “Jean” White, 78, Elgin, will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, at Locust Grove Baptist Church in Elgin with Jimmy Lehew officiating.
Jean White died on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. She was born Nov. 14, 1940, one mile north of her residence in Elgin to Henry Hanks and Zelma Clara Copeland Ambrose.
She grew up on a farm with her beloved sister Wilma and her parents. She enjoyed “country life,” family and friends.She attended church and was saved at an early age. She attended Elgin Public Schools and graduated in 1957. She married the love of her life in November 1957. She loved being a homemaker and being involved in the community and church. She also loved being a grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed her work with The Lawton Constitution, Lawton Food Bank, and handling estate sales.
Survivors include her son, Steven White, Elgin; her daughter, Darrie Breathwit, Norman; two grandchildren: Morgan Collier and husband Todd, Oklahoma City; John Breathwit and wife Emily, Norman; six great-grandchildren: Mikayla, Zackary, AJ Collier; Conner, Jensen, and Oliver Breathwit.
She was preceded in death by her sister and parents.
