FLETCHER - To some she was a cherished family member, to others a dear friend and dedicated volunteer, but to all whose lives touched the late Linda “Linny Lou” James, most remember her as simply being an “angel on earth.”

Born and raised in Fletcher, Linda - nicknamed “Linny Lou”, was special her entire life.

Due to health complications that she had since birth, Linda attended special education classes as a child and eventually volunteered in the classroom as an adult. In 1999, she was asked to pay a visit to the special needs students at Fletcher Public Schools and read to them. Enjoying being around the kids, Linda continued to help in the classroom over the remainder of her life.

For over 17 years, Linda took her “job” as a volunteer very seriously. Every morning at 6:30 a.m. she would be up and ready to head out with her sister Brenda Prince, who works in the school cafeteria.
