LAWTON — Lawton Speedway had a full slate of racing on their schedule this past weekend, but the weather had other plans.

June has been a dry month in the area with the only significant rainfall coming when the All-Star series made a visit to town and had to reschedule due to weather. Then the bottom fell out of it and made the racetrack and pit area too wet to race. It looked to be an exciting night of racing as the speedway was set to host the Red River Rumble. The ASCS Sooner Region was headed to town to take on the ASCS Lone Star Region for home state bragging rights.

The USRA Modifieds, USRA Limited Modifieds, Mini Stocks and Wingless Limited Sprints were on the schedule as well. Texas Night will be on tap for Saturday, June 27. Any Texas resident that shows a photo ID will be admitted to the grandstand free of charge. The fans will be treated to four classes of racing. The IMCA 305 RaceSaver Sprints, USRA Limited Modifieds, USRA Modifieds and Mini Stocks will take to the track with races start- ing at 8:30 p.m.

The Fourth of July falls on a Saturday this year and the track will have a gigantic fireworks extravaganza, along with the Sprint Series of Oklahoma making another visit to the red clay of the Lawton Speedway.
