ELGIN GIRL SCOUTS
ELGIN - A sustainable project focused on creating crocheted hats for chemotherapy patients recently landed a local teen a Girl Scout Gold Award.
Elgin senior, Jazmyne Williams, received the “highest, most prestigious award that can be earned as a Girl Scout” on May 4, for her dedication to a community service crochet project she titled “Cancer Cozy.”
Jazmyne said in order to successfully complete her final Girl Scout venture she had to identify a need in the community, research a feasible solution to the issue, rally a team together, create a sustainable plan then put the plan into motion. All while teaching and inspiring others to participate.
