STERLING - Funeral service for Jaunita Kerr, 83, of Sterling was held Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at the Sterling First Baptist Church with Brother John Carlisle, officiating. Burial followed at Sterling Cemetery under the direction of the Fletcher Funeral Home. Jaunita Lois (Johnson) Kerr, age 83, went home to be with her Lord at her home in Sterling on June 8, 2018, after her bout with cancer. She was born at home in Sterling to George (Man) and Lorena Johnson. She was born on Dec. 27, 1934, and was the third of five children. She grew up in Sterling until she moved to Shawnee to attend Oklahoma Baptist University. She then quit college to marry John Kerr on Oct. 7, 1953. Out of their marriage they had two sons and four daughters. They would have celebrated 65 years of marriage this year. She will be greatly missed. Our loss is Heaven’s gain. The family would like to thank Dr. Adkins, Faith Hospice, and Visiting Angels for helping take such special care of Jaunita: wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister and friend. She is survived by her husband, John Carlton Kerr, of the home; her children: Archie Kerr and his wife Kellean, of Sterling; Anita (Kerr) Yates and her husband Gary, of Willard, Mo.; Johnnie Carla Ferguson, of Chickasha; Cora Carlisle, of Sterling; and Jim Kerr, of Oklahoma City; a brother, Elmer Johnson, of Tuttle; three sisters: Ruby Williams, of Lawton; Nyla Johnson, of Woodward; and Ida Jo Adamson, of Sterling; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: George Ernest (Man) and Lorena Audrey Johnson and her oldest daughter, Georgie Marie (Kerr) Ramsey.
