ELGIN - Two new members of the Elgin City Council were sworn in at the Tuesday, April 9, meeting as Councilwoman Jana Barker and Councilman Sean Bateman formally took oath of office.

Barker has served Ward 2 in the place of the late Donna Shadoan, who resigned in October for health reasons. During the April 2 election, Barker ran unopposed, and in a close race, Bateman secured the Ward 4 Seat.

Council members presented a plaque to Patrick Croke, recognizing his 12 years of service to the council. Croke will continue to serve the council acting as a consultant.

Monies from the Street and Alley Fund will be used to purchase materials for the project, and the county has offered to provide free labor.
