In need of a new roof and upgrades to the HVAC system at Fletcher Elementary, the school district will be holding a bond election on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, in hopes of gaining enough votes to fund the project.
According to Shane Gilbreath, Superintendent of Fletcher Public Schools, the current roof on the elementary school building has been leaking for over 20 years.
Despite multiple attempts over the years to fix the problems with the roof, Shane said all they’ve managed to do is reduce the number of leaks from 13 down to six. Students in the cafeteria were getting soaked, he said, and that causes a safety concern.
