ELGIN - Two seats will soon be opening up on the Elgin City Council and the filing period for electing officers is just around the corner.
Those interested in filing a declaration of candidacy must qualify by being a resident and registered voter within the municipality or ward, for at least six months before the filing date.
The City of Elgin positions that are up for election include Council Member Ward 2 and Council Member Ward 4. Each will be nominated by ward and elected at large for a four-year term.
The filing period for Elgin will be held at the Comanche County Courthouse beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, and will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6. In accordance with state law, absentee ballots will be provided.
A nonpartisan general election will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2019.
