Information is being sought by the Comanche County Sheriff's Department regarding the recent death of a pregnant cow in Fletcher.
In an official incident report, it was documented that Deputy Baca made contact with Betty Bessire, the owner of the deceased cow, who said at 10 a.m. on Jan. 20, she noticed the cow laying down when as she left for town and assumed the pregnant animal was giving birth. The report goes on to say that when she returned, the cow was still laying there. Betty said when she went to check the animal she saw that the cow's right ear had been cut off. The cow also had been cut underneath and all the inside organs were gone. Sheriff Stradley confirmed that not only were the innards missing, so was the calf. The man that helps Betty with her cattle reported that the cow had been fine at 9:30 a.m. that morning.
