Cindy Sheppard 1957-2020
Cindy Sheppard 1957-2020

Cindy Sheppard — loving daughter, mom, aunt, grandma, nurse and friend — left this life on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, at her home in Lawton.

Cynthia Bernice Sheppard was born April 1, 1957, in Gary, Indiana, to Hilman and Renee Studler. Cindy’s family moved to Oklahoma while she was still in school, where she graduated from Elgin High School and later became an LVN. Being a nurse was one of her greatest passions. Cindy worked at several places over the years but always seemed to find herself working at a nursing home — her true calling. When Cindy loved, she loved hard and she shared that love with everyone she met. Aside from nursing, Cindy loved fishing; camping; watching OU Football; spending time with family and friends; listening to her son sing, play guitar and drums; and most of all, she loved being a grandma. She was her grandkids’ biggest supporter in anything they set out to do. Cindy had the biggest heart you could ever have. She would literally give you the shirt off of her back if you needed it — and has done just that! She loved to joke and have fun and could put a smile on your face in two seconds flat!

Cindy is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Asmara Adams. Cindy is survived by her father, Hilman Studler, and his wife, Tillie, of Mountainview, Missouri; her mother, Renee Studler, of Ennis, Texas; her brother, Dan Studler, and his wife, Rose, of Lawton; her sister, Liz Penkauskas, and her husband, Dave, of Dallas; and her sister, Dianna Horner, of Enid. Cindy is also survived by her daughter Elizabeth Chandler of Lawton, and her children Dakota, Nicole, Kayle, Gale and Ki’Onna; her son, Ricky Duncan, and his wife, Nici, of Wichita, Kansas, and their daughter, Khnly; and her youngest son, Elijah Duncan, and his wife, Linda, and their children, Jonathan, Andrea, Kristen, Bethel and Mikey, all of Monahans, Texas. Cindy also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends and many children and grandchildren that she adopted as her own. A memorial service for Cindy will be scheduled after the new year so that more friends and family may attend. She will be laid to rest next to her children’s father, Rick Duncan, at “home” in Fletcher.
