LAWTON – The Cameron University baseball team came into Sunday looking for the series win against UT Permian Basin, but ended up splitting the four game-set, falling 3-0 in the rainshortened finale.
Cameron and UTPB tried to get all nine innings in before the rain came into Lawton on Sunday afternoon, but in about the fourth inning, it started to come down and get heavier as the game went along.
After playing a full six innings, the coaches and umpires decided that the conditions were unplayable and called the game with UTPB leading 3-0.
Dillon Turney got the call to start the game on the mound, but struggled with location in the top of the first, giving up two runs on just one hit and three free bases. He was unable to get out of the frame, turning it over to Travis Walters to record the final out.
