MEDICINE PARK - Ten local fire departments responded and worked together to extinguish the flames that engulfed the inside of the American Legion Post, near the 1-44 Medicine Park exit near Elgin.
According to Ashleigh Hench, Comanche County Emergency Management’s Public Information Officer, it was a passerby that initially called to report the fire on Saturday, Feb. 9. The caller informed dispatch that smoke was coming from the American Legion building, located at 6739 North Wildhorse Road.
Medicine Park Volunteer Fire Department responded as Incident Command and was assisted with crews and equipment from nine other fire departments in the area.
