RACING INTO THE SUNSET: The ARMS drivers run their heat race at Lawton Speedway on Saturday, July 24.

Without a worry about another rainout, the American Racer Modified Series made their way onto the dirt at the Lawton Speedway. Four heat races and two “B” features arranged a starting field of 23 cars for the nights “A” feature.

Rodney Sanders trailed Kale Westover for most of the 30 lap main but as Kale tried to work his way underlap traffic, Kale struck the tractor tire in the infield which took him out of the race. Rodney Sanders took the win followed by Kevin Rowland, Triston Dycus, Sean Gaddis and Colton Horner.

The USRA Limited Modifieds saw point leader Shane Little win again with Josh Cournoyer, Trev- or Foley, Terrell Evans and Payton Zentgraf rounding out the top five. Point leader Dakota Davies kept his win streak alive in the Mini Stock divison followed to the finish line by Dustin Southerland, Shane Henning, Carl Mitchell and Dakota Southerland. The USRA Tuners were also on the track Saturday night and Keyton Adams extended his point lead by winning the “A” main. Finishing in second was Logan Morschhuser followed by Brian Huckabay, Kaleb Watson and Brandon Pedigo.

Donnie Throne did not finish the night as he found the tractor tire in turn four and rolled his tuner multiple times. Donnie was able to walk away from the accident.  Lawton Speedway will host their annual Back to School Bash on Saturday, July 31. Gates open at 6 p.m. with racing to start at 8:30 p.m.
