FORT SILL - Funeral service for Alma Hughes, 81, of Oklahoma City, was held Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, at the Elgin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at the Fort Sill National Cemetery under direction of the Elgin Funeral Home. Mrs. Hughes passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, at her home in Oklahoma City. She was born on Dec. 31, 1936, in English, Ind., to Gilbert and Dora (Spears) Satterfield. Alma was a loving wife to Alvin Hughes; mother to Debbie Adkins, Vincent Adkins and Karen Adkins Lowery; grandmother to Kristina Lowery, Craton Lowery and Jacob Lowery; and great-grandmother to Matthew Lowery, Nicholas Lowery, Sheila Lowery, Kathleen Lowery, Ian Lowery, and Eli Lowery. She was a retired Civil Service worker from Reynold’s Army Hospital at Fort Sill. She was a dedicated Onbudsaman volunteer and was selected as the Volunteer of the Year as a Hospice Volunteer. Alma was blessed to receive amazing end-oflife care from Carter Hospice in Oklahoma City. Her family is grateful to Carrie Gardner and Leisa Clark from Carter Hospice whose compassion and friendship made life more bearable.
