There is an old saying that before you win a Championship, you have to lose one first. Now I don’t always buy into that theory but if anyone actually deserves a Championship, in my opinion, it would be Gonzaga’s men's basketball.

After Baylor ended their perfect run and beat them in for the NCAA Championship, the Bulldogs had run off 31 straight wins. Of course, this got me looking back over the Zags win loss records for the past few years. What they have accomplished is pretty astounding. When the plug was pulled last year for the pandemic the Bulldogs were sitting with a 31-2 win/loss record.

Gonzaga also lost the National Championship to North Carolina after the 2016-2017 season, with a record of 37-2. The last time the Bulldogs lost more than nine games was the 2010-2011 season but they still went to the third round of the NCAA tournament. Head coach Mark Few took over at the start of the 1999 season and has led the Gonzaga Bulldogs to a 630-124 record. I can’t think of any other team that is more due!

As always, stay safe and healthy.
